Where to Play

Ready to start playing? There are plenty of ways for you to experience the heroic stories of the Moonshae Isles, whether online or in person at conventions or by running adventures for your friends at the kitchen table.

Adventurers League

The Moonshae adventures are designed as a part of the Adventurer’s League (AL) organized play campaign. Although you can play these adventures at home, in the usual way you might play D&D, part of the enjoyment of the Moonshae storyline is in sharing the experience with a large community and meeting new players. To take part in Adventurer’s League convention play, you will need to create an AL legal character.

AL divides its adventures into two categories: Seasonal adventures and Historic adventures. The Moonshae’s Rising Shadows storyline falls under the Historic category. To ensure you create a character who you can take on the entire journey through these mythic islands, create a character following the guidelines set out in the Historic Campaign Player’s Guide. Details on how to do so can be found at:

These additional character creation rules help to ensure that everyone at the table is on an even playing field and that every person playing can contribute to the party in a meaningful way.

But wait, there's more! There are some extra character creation options available to Moonshae characters. These background options give you the opportunity to create a character whose history is entwined with the setting. This can be a rewarding experience, driving your character's motivation. These character options, as well as an abundance of lore, can be found in the BMG Moonshae Isles Regional Guide, available at the DM’s Guild.

Conventions

Baldman Games regularly runs Moonshae adventures at a variety of conventions. Often, these conventions include premiers of new adventures; an exciting chance to take part in the progression of the Rising Shadows storyline! The events of some of these adventures are influenced by the outcomes of previous adventures run at past conventions. Keep track of which conventions include Moonshae adventures to experience this epic storyline as it unfolds.

During 2020, many conventions learned a lot about how to adapt games to an online format. Over the course of the year it became apparent that there was a huge demand for these games, and that online play could expand gaming communities and create international friendships. Going forward, many of these conventions vowed to continue with an online element. This means that wherever you are in the world, you have the opportunity to visit the Moonshae Isles.

BMG runs Moonshae adventures at the following conventions:
